このところそのひんやりとした涼感に惹かれて思わず

手に取る頻度が増えたアールデコの

ブルームーンストーンリング。

現代のジュエリーでもムーンストーンは人気の石ですが

アンティークジュエリーに用いられているムーンストーンの

美しさは又格別のような気がします。

透明な水晶珠を思わせる山高のカボションの石の中に

ふわりと浮かびあがるロイヤルブルーの諸相を

プラチナの台座に散りばめられた星屑のような

あえかな輝きの極小のローズカットダイヤモンドが

引き立てています。

19世紀後期の唯美主義の作家オスカー・ワイルドは

戯曲『サロメ』の中でサロメの義父エロド王の

台詞の中でムーンストーンについて

『月とともに色を変え、日に当たれば蒼ざめる・・・』

と描写していますが、月を意味するラテン語”Luna"から派生した

形容詞 ”lunatic”（狂気じみた）に表されるように

蒼白い月影を映し出すムーンストーンは静けさの中に

A gracefully graduated row of eleven old European-cut diamonds glisten and glow like morning dew  below an gold necklace. The chain consists of numerous elaborately crafted tiny coiled links that I have never seen before. The supremely beautiful and enchanting Victorian treasure.

Georgian Champagne Rose-cut Diamond Ring

A sizable champagne-colored rose-cut diamond shimmers and glows from a closed-back setting, hand crafted in silver over gold, with a breathtaking wavy scroll design engraved on the reverse side.
